Now I Know why they are called Multimedia Computers
Everybody starts snickering when they talk or write about how Nokia calls the Nseries phones multimedia computers.
It just hit me. They don't do it only to emphasize the featues of these phones. They do it to give them time.
It's all about perception. S60 is becoming mainstream and the new S60 phones are more often used used by people who don't have previous experience about these sophisticated phones. What is important to remember that our Average Joe doesn't have patience. They don't understand that these powerful phones act and work differently than more simple phones. Obvious difference is boot time, and, let's be realistic, there's quite a steep learning curve before you learn to use them efficiently.
If you just put a N95 to someone's hand and say how wonderful it is, they can get frustrated if everything doesn't work as they have been used to before. But when you call them computers, everybody understands that these are different beasts and everybody (yes, even MAC users) are used to fight with their PC*s now and then.
So, when somebody ditches their Samsung or RAZR to get an N95 there are lot of reminders that say: "Take your time, it's a computer. You have to learn how to use it."
